Rhythm . Ear . Solfege
Training

R.E.S sessions are weekly supporting sessions on Zoom for all Voice Hub students.

It is open for all instrumentalists and singers. There is no need to have an instrument with you - just your voice and your body.

Using a kinaesthetic approach to learning music, with our voices and movement being our only tools, R.E.S sessions will allow you to:

  • develop a strong feel of pulse

  • greatly improve your sight reading and musical ear

  • provide you with tools to help you work out a range of rhythms

We are going to learn how to use “Solfege” - a learning system which provides a framework for melodies by establishing recognisable relationships between pitches - to train your ear to hear patterns and gradually recognise melodic intervals. With these excellent and fun tools in hand we are going to establish fundamental musicianship skills which will be transferrable into your playing or singing.

LEVELS

Beginners: there will not be any online R.E.S session for beginners. Instead, they will have the opportunity to attend the VoiceHub “Get Creative!” workshops where they will be able to learn fundamental musicianship and rhythm skills through creative games. Coming in 2021. Venue TBC.

Grade 1-3: R.E.S training for grade 1-3 will be divided into 3 levels - Bronze, Silver, Gold. There will be 8 sessions for each level. Upon completion the student will receive the R.E.S gold certificate.

Grade 4-5: Apart from acquiring the fundamental R.E.S training of previous grades, grade 4-5 levels will also have the opportunity to work on identifying basic chord progressions, simple melodic dictation and interval recognition.
