Embodiment through singing & movement

Exploring the mind-body-voice connection
Deepening the connection with ourselves.
Experiencing the awe of collective sound and creativity.

Creativity and community are intrinsic to being human.
In our modern society where conformity, false urgency, suppression, and busyness are normalised, creative and embodied expression becomes an act of rebellion.

I created this workshop to share practices that help me and my students get out of survival mode and into the realm of being. It is in our hands to provide an antidote to living in this modern world and reawaken a sense of effortlessness, deep purpose, and joy.

Whoever you are and whatever your background is, there is a space for your here.

Our body and voice reflect what we hold in our minds, the quality of our thoughts, our beliefs, and our level of connection to our inner world.

The workshop ‘Embodiment through Singing & Movement’ offers a safe space to attend to our emotions, creativity, and intuition. We explore the relationship between our mind, breath, singing, and movement to liberate our voice from unnecessary tension and  blockages – physical or emotional . We experience resonance and sound vibrations through the dynamic interplay between voice and flow of movement.

In this encounter, we embrace our strength and vulnerability, overcome inhibitions around singing and unfiltered expression, and deepen the dialogue with our core self. With our voice and body in synergy, we can achieve emotional catharsis, embarking on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and transformation.

In the second part of the workshop, we will bring that place of mind-body-voice integration into collective singing and improvisation. We are going to experience the creative practice of  ‘circle singing’, exploring improvisation through the use of our voice and any other sounds that can be produced with our bodies. We will amplify the more personal experience of embodiment experienced in the first part by sharing and coordinating it with others.

In this collective game, there is no right or wrong. The only requirement is an open mind and curiosity. Through this practice, we are going to deepen our connection with ourselves and the other group members, developing a deep sense of active listening and expanding our imagination. One of the group members starts by introducing a melody and/or rhythmic idea in a loop, and the rest of us gradually enter in response to what we hear. In this way we create songs and soundscapes in the moment, celebrating the healing power of collective sound while tapping into our innate creativity.

“Only by experiencing safety in our body and mind, our true voice can be heard and our full potential can be shared.”

- Andria Antoniou

"Andria has taught me for the past five years and has played a huge role in my development as a singer. Thanks to her exceptional tuition and skill, I have consistently achieved Distinction in my Rockschool vocal exams and I am now studying music at The BRIT School as a vocalist. She has also massively supported me in my preparation for vocal study at university. I am so excited about the ‘Voice Hub’ platform and can’t wait to see where it goes! "
