NOCHE DE TANGO

Argentine Tango & folklore

Singer Andria Antoniou and guitarist Ignacio Lusardi Monteverde present an intimate music and dance show weaving together tango and Argentine folklore.

Joined by guitarist Giancarlo Garcia Viera and guest tango dancers Adrien Bariki-Alaoui and Iro Davlanti-Lo, the work brings together songs from the tango repertoire—tango, vals, and milonga—with Argentine folklore shaped by contrasting landscapes. Tango reflects the pulse of the city, carrying themes of migration, longing, desire, and belonging, while folklore is rooted in the land, evoking rural life, community, and the poetry of everyday struggle.

Alongside Argentine traditions, the show explores Greek tangos from the interwar era, when tango became a powerful cultural presence in Greece. Influenced by recordings, travelling musicians, and shared histories of migration and resilience, Greek tango blends Argentine rhythms with Greek sensibilities. This repertoire reveals a rich dialogue between cultures, where tango becomes a space of memory, expression, and connection.

At its heart, the show reflects a meeting point between places, histories, and identities, echoing both the collective experience of migration and the personal journeys of the artists involved.
